Holivia -olive farm revitalization projectYou are most welcome to help us in the project of revitalization of an olive farm in the most virgin and beautiful place in the Izmir area (and most probably in all western Turkey). We are a family of downshifters, Veli is a psychologist, Berna math teacher and yoga instructor, since five years we are staying in the small town on Karaburun Peninsula. Taking advantage of exceptionally lucky circumstances, we decided to rent a big abandoned olive orchard
and start to turn it into an organic farm. Sadly in most farms in the area cultivation of olives is carried out with support of chemicals and focused on mass production of low quality oil and olives, this is what we want to change. Our aim is to produce healthy, high quality oil based on traditional techniques and local knowledge about cultivation.
The place where orchard is based in a small paradise, far from villages in remote, covid-free area, on the coast full of wild beaches and with a view of Greek Chios island and small islets, surrounded by mountains with a well established net of hiking trails. At the same time it's just a bit more than 100 kilometers from Izmir, where you can find – if needed - all the charms of a big city.
We need help with all kinds of work in the orchard - starting with the construction of pest traps and pruning the branches and ending with collecting the olives. No experience in this kind of work is needed, but of course we appreciate anybody who can share with us his knowledge and skills in this matter.
We are offering to you a place in the house on a hill with a spectacular view and free wi-fi connection, all products needed to prepare organic and vegetarian food, free yoga courses, transportation to Izmir at least once a month. Of course we are open to other needs and suggestions, it’s important for us to provide you with a good time here.
