Campus Can Benet Vives

Location: Tordera, Spain

Can Benet Vives is a Human Development Center (for 15 years) located in the Natural Park of the Montnegre Corridor (Tordera-Barcelona). It is a farm of 83,000 m2 basically of forests of oaks, oaks, pines, chestnuts and strawberry trees. Within the same farm we have several natural water sources and own wells. We have an orchard of about 70 m2, chickens, dogs and cats.

The buildings are: a 19th century Catalan farmhouse, of more than 800 m2, dedicated to housing people who carry out their activities for the development and cultivation of the internal world, usually on weekends, and other 5 smaller and recent buildings dedicated to permanent residents of Can Benet and temporary collaborators, at the service of the guests.

Our commitment is to promote among the members of our societies, the development of their own human values and capacities (tolerance, solidarity, respect for individuality ...) and the relationship with the natural environment, in the correct and full exercise of freedom , through the study, research and dissemination of traditional and current techniques derived from humanistic psychology, ethnopsychology, and human ecology, contributing in this way to a better human, peaceful and conscious coexistence.

Among these values, the issue of awareness and the relationship with the natural environment takes on an important role that encompasses the promotion of a sustainable and ecological development that, in the case of the physical space of Can Benet Vives, is reflected in:
- Orchard with cultivation with ecological techniques.
- Hen house.
- Care for the natural environment immediately close to Can Benet Vives using ecological methods (compost, etc.).
- Elaboration of natural compost.
- Cleaning and maintenance of the forest by non-intrusive techniques.
- Progressive inclusion of alternative methods of clean and ecological energy, reducing the emission of CO2 into the environment.

Can Benet Vives es un Centro de Desarrollo Humano (desde hace 15 años) ubicado en el Parque Natural del Corredor-Montnegre (Tordera–Barcelona). Es una finca de 83.000 m2 básicamente de bosques de encinas, robles, pinos, castaños y madroños. Dentro de la misma finca contamos con varias fuentes de agua naturales y pozos propios. Tenemos un huerto de unos 70 m2, gallinas, perros y gatos.

Los edificios son: una masía catalana del siglo XIX, de más de 800 m2, dedicada a alojar personas que realizan sus actividades para el desarrollo y cultivo del mundo interno, normalmente los fines de semana, y otros 5 edificios más pequeños y recientes dedicados a los residentes permanentes de Can Benet y a los colaboradores temporales, al servicio de los huéspedes.

Nuestro compromiso es promover el desarrollo de los propios valores y capacidades humanas (tolerancia, solidaridad, respeto por la individualidad...) y la relación con el entorno natural, en el correcto y pleno ejercicio de la libertad, a través del estudio, investigación y difusión de técnicas tradicionales y actuales derivadas de la psicología humanista, de la etnopsicología, y de la ecología humana, contribuyendo de esta manera a una mejor convivencia humana, pacífica y consciente.

Entre estos valores, el tema de la conciencia y la relación con el entorno natural toma un papel importante que engloba el fomento de un desarrollo sostenible y ecológico que, en el caso del espacio físico de Can Benet Vives, se refleja en:
- Huerto con cultivo con técnicas ecológicas.
- Gallinero.
- Cuidado del entorno natural inmediatamente cercano a Can Benet Vives mediante métodos ecológicos (abono de compost, etc.).
- Elaboración de compost natural.
- Limpieza y mantenimiento del bosque mediante técnicas no intrusivas.
- Progresiva inclusión de métodos alternativos de energía limpia y ecológica, disminuyendo la emisión de CO2 al medio ambiente, como por ejemplo, el agua ionizada para limpiar y desinfectar.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT

Volunteering consists of 30 weekly hours of collaboration in the different tasks of the campus (cleaning, maintenance, gardening, customer service, etc.) in exchange for full accommodation in Can Benet, usually in a shared room with another volunteer.

There is no minimum requirement to volunteer with us, but we recommend staying for at least one month. This duration allows volunteers to learn and contribute effectively to various tasks. After this initial month, which serves as a trial period for both parties, we decide whether to extend the stay. If extended, you can participate in Fundació JM Fericgla activities at a reduced resident rate.

The environment is very familiar and respectful, for us it is fundamental to take care of a non-confessional spiritual way of life. From the first day, we invite you to share the daily activities with the rest of the resident community: morning and afternoon meditations, sauna sessions, cinema sessions, long and short forest walks, and swimming pool at any time!

El voluntariado consiste en 30 horas semanales de colaboración en las distintas tareas del campus (limpieza, mantenimiento, jardinería, atención a los clientes, etc.) a cambio de alojamiento completo en Can Benet, normalmente en habitación compartida con otra persona voluntaria.

No tenemos un mínimo necesario para venir como voluntario pero lo recomendable sería venir al menos un mes, ya que para aportar en las diferentes tareas se necesitan unos días de aprendizaje. Superado este mes, que también es de prueba por ambas partes, decidimos si prolongar la estancia. En caso afirmativo, puedes empezar a participar en las actividades de la Fundació JM Fericgla a precio reducido de residente.

El ambiente es muy familiar y respetuoso, para nosotros es fundamental cuidar una forma de vida espiritual no confesional. Desde el primer día te invitamos a compartir con el resto de la comunidad de residentes las actividades diarias: meditaciones por la mañana y por la tarde, sesiones de sauna, de cine, caminatas por el bosque, y piscina en cualquier momento!

LIVING ARRANGEMENT

In a bright room, with a private bathroom and a large balcony offering beautiful views of the entire campus and the mountains. The room is shared with other volunteers. We have two designated rooms for volunteers, one for women and one for men.

All three daily meals and all utility expenses are included in the exchange. Throughout the day, fruits, cookies, coffee, and teas are available for snacking or taking a break at any time. We also have a communal refrigerator where you can store your personal provisions.

Typically, breakfast is served before 9:00 AM to start daily tasks promptly at 9:00 AM. Each day, someone takes charge of cooking for the community, and we all eat together at 2:30 PM. Dinner is self-serve, usually between 8:00 and 9:30 PM.

En una habitación luminosa, con baño propio y un gran balcón con hermosas vistas a todo el Campus y la montaña. La habitación es compartida con otros voluntarios. Tenemos dos habitaciones destinadas a voluntarios, una para mujeres y otra para hombres.

Están incluidas las tres comidas diarias y todos los gastos de suministros en el intercambio. Y durante todo día hay a disposición frutas, galletas, café e infusiones para merendar o hacer un descanso en cualquier momento del día. También tenemos una nevera comunitaria para que puedas tener tus provisiones personales.

Normalmente desayunamos antes de las 9:00 h. AM para empezar las tareas diarias a las 9:00 h. en punto. Cada día alguien se encarga de cocinar para la comunidad y comemos todos juntos a las 14:30h. Por la noche la cena es libre, normalmente entre 20:00 y 21:30h.
