Living in the arctic aeria means a lot of weather and a lot of nature.
During the year i live two different aeria ,in a house at the coast in Skjervøy Troms ,and in a Cabin in the mountains of Maze Finnmark .
For a living a have been a dogtrainer and hunting guide ,now i retired but still doing almost the same ,but less ,because of fysical efforts.
True the year i hunt and fish as much as i can ,and also pick berrys and other things like herbs, mushrooms .
I arrange all my firework by cutting in the woods, bring home ,cut and split for drying .
I have several huntingdogs to train and take care of,i also do some breeding.
Life can be taugh and hard in arctic aeria but it givs me strenght and happyness.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
I wish volunteers want to learn and help me with all tasks through the year.
In winter it is mainly taking care of dogs and snowshoweling ,housework ,Making food of what was fished and hunted in the autumn.
The days are short in winter darkness almost 20 hours a day,but it can be Stars an Northern light .
Woodwork is an other activities ,it is mainly cutting ,bring home by quadrabike, snowmobile or trailer and using chainsaw ,woodsplitter or aks .
Dogtraining ,fishing is other activities .
I hope my volunteers understand that some days it can be a lot of work and other days almost nothing.,this is because of weatherconditions .
But ruffly working 25- 35 hours a week ,we can agree about days Off.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
By the coast ,room in my house ,bedroom with two separate beds.
Small cabin close to my house at the coast .
Lavvo or tent .
Sharing bathroom,citchen and livingroom.
There is water inside and shower.
Where i live there is limited internet so it is good if volunteers have their own internet
or i can help with buying It in Norway .
In my cabin it is not water inside ,and toilet is a small house outside,
Sometimes when hunting and fishing we live in lavvo or tent in the mountains
I provide all food three meals a day.
Volunteers can borrow warm clothes and shoes, ski ,skiboots, bicycle ,gloves ,hat, woolsocks ,warm underwear.
It is good if volunteers can bring thier own torck ( Headlamp)
Waterproof clothes is also recomanded to bring.
We speak English and Norwegian .
We do not host vegetarians and vegans ,because we hunt and fish for living.
And because vegetables usually do not grow this far north in the arctic.
I prefer volunteers that can stay at least four weeks.
But we can talk about it if it is not possible.
We do not provide volunteers wit personally needs like tobacco, alcohol and that kind of things.
