I live in an old “baita” (traditional alpine farmhouse) in a very small village on the mountains near Corio, 45 km away from Turin in Northern Italy. I have a small piece of land for the vegetable garden, there are trees all around, there is a clear stream nearby for swimming and many trails to explore. A pleasant environment to find new inspirations and to experience another lifestyle, at least for a while.
The keywords are:
self-management, self-production, decrease, sharing, slow and peaceful life in the forest.
Do you like to put your < Hands in the Brambles > ? ;-)
There are many tasks to do, it depends on the weather, on the desires or by priorities :
* Make the vegetable garden
* Prepare the seedbed and sow plants
* Gather herbs
* Produce natural medicament
* Transform and preserve the products of the earth
* Brew beer and spirits
* Chop wood and clean the forest
* Fix tools
* Collect and spread dung
* Repair dry stone walls
* Breathe the air of the forest
* Observe the stars
* Walk and relax by the stream
* And after a long day…. enjoy the sunset with a glass of good wine.
What you need:
> Desire to do something, to use your hands and get them dirty
> Clothes and boots for working in the mountains
> Sleeping bag
> Torch
> Sturdy gloves
> Good vibes
When ???
From April until October.
Sometimes I’m a bit grumpy, very rural, direct and handy…
...this is not your place if you feel like a dandy!
My home is open to spend together a bit of our life in a more rural and green way.
So! C’mon and make a veg garden!

Some more info on the idea < Hands in the Brambles >
I don’t want be Wwoof, Workaway style or similar projects. I don’t offer room and board in exchange for your work because basically I’m against the Western working model based on the concept: produce > consume > die.
I don't really need any helpers or volunteers, I have always managed the house and the land by myself.
I just want to open my house to people who share the vision and the instinct of a return to the Earth creating an oasis for globetrotters or kindred spirits, giving a starter point, from my whole perspective, for those who cannot move away from their own immobility.
I offer free the oppurtunity to learn and to exchange knowledge in a world where everything, or almost everything, is driven by money, where very expensive courses and workshops of "permaculture - green building - biodynamic - agroecology" are being offered, converting knowledge to be popularizated freely into a fashionable elite business, a sort of new Green and Spiritual Business.
Otherwise I offer free accommodation but everything in the terms of self-management, that is sometimes very difficult to understand, without the roles of “master” and “employee”.
I want to be out of the perspective of volunteering as a chance to sleep and eat in exchange for a few hours of work but I am interested in getting deep into the concept of sharing for the pure pleasure of sharing and interacting and as a highly evolutionary practice.
Everyone is responsible for himself and for his actions and the guests will buy their own food for the whole stay, share it with our stocks and cook good meals together: mountains air cause to be hungry like a Yeti! I am omnivorous, a good food lover and I know well the needs of those with different habits/food choices.
I’m interested in meeting people who want to live well and in a simple way, learn, teach, share, grow; taking all the time needed to get it out of the frenetic pace of modern life and the pre-established patterns. People who want to live their daily lives in harmony with themselves, others and the forest.
Life often offers new obstacles and opportunities so I can’t always be at home.
Those interested please contact me and then contact me again a few weeks before arriving.
A stay of about 7-10 days is welcome, longer periods will be discussed directly here if we'll feel good together (I’m a mountain goat ;)
I’m also available for those who enjoy only a brief visit.
< Hands in the Brambles > is not a project
< Hands in the Brambles > is just LIFE!
