Volunteer in Brittany help with organic small holding - France
Report
Location: Plouyé, France
We are a family of 2 adults and 7 year old twins living on 42 acres in central Brittany. We moved here 4 years ago together with two horses, dogs, cats and a container from NZ...
The land has been farmed organically for the last twenty years, mostly pasture and woodland with a river boundary. We also have a large vege garden, polytunnel, bees, chickens and orchard with scope for more ideas and input...
My wife is a bare foot horse trimmer and very much into her horses...
We have two gites, both separate and complete dwellings, one of these will be fine as accommodation...
We are now looking for some help with several jobs:
- Gardening in vege garden, poly tunnel and other gardens
- Digging!!
- Building a roof on a small stone cottage
- stone walling
- Cooking...
Who are we looking for?....someone who enjoys the countryside, animals and looks at working as a fun way of keeping fit....
We like people to take initiative, we are not into micromanaging.
What we offer?...
A lovely setting with walks, separate accommodation, Wifi, varied work and hopefully a place to have some fun..
You can get more info on our blog... kervelen.blogspot.com....you can also email us if you have any specific questions...

Help
Hardworking, happy to muck in, sense of humour....February 2014 on we would like someone(s) to help out with the vege gardens, polytunnel, soft fruits and perhaps some building works...we offer separate accomodation (one of the gites), it has a wood burner as heating, it has a complete kitchen so there is no need to share every meal (happy to provide evening meals on the weekdays).
Tricky to know how to word it but it is something about having a fair trade, some people have turned up and struggled to work 2 hours a day and wanted to be treated as a paying guest! I guess that is the bit about having a good work ethic and an ability to muck in....
Languages : English, Dutch & French by the kids!
Accommodation: Separate house
I think it is best if you have your own transport as there is no public transport here and driving our vehicles is tricky with regards to insurance etc.
Volunteering hours expected 4 hours per day, 5 day week (20 hours per week)
