Based in Milna on the Croatian island Brac, the charity Gea Viva is in the process of setting up a place of inspiration, encounter and creativity that welcomes visitors and offers events, seminars and courses. Its 1.4 hectare site brings together contemporary spirituality and eco education by finding new ways of relating to the seen and unseen aspects of the Earth. Local people and tourists can learn about, try their hand at and evolve permaculture, ecological construction, healthy living, geomancy, arts and crafts.
The site is located in an olive grove, 15 minutes’ walk from the sea and the village. At present we are constructing a Summer kitchen, repairing dry-stone walls, improving shower and toilet facilities and working in the Permaculture garden. This is what we need help with. So far the site has basic camping facilities: a kitchen tent, compost toilet and a solar shower. There is also a stone circle auditorium, a pavilion for event, a giant mosaic dragon, a Venus flower, a dog and a donkey.
Accommodation is in tents, and four hours work a day are required for free accommodation and vegetarian meals. Working hours differ across the seasons, and we can arrange this jointly. Over the Summer months, there are various events and seminars on site, some of which volunteers can take part in. Volunteers are welcome from 15.4.-31.10.
