INTRODUCTION:
Catalyst for Change Vietnam (originally called Coins for Change in 2015) is a social enterprise that aids disenfranchised women and children throughout Vietnam. Our goal is to empower women with skills and resources to overcome social and economic challenges and to pursue opportunities.
Our Teach for Change program connects passionate international volunteers to provide fluent English language services to our women-led partner centers. In a country where English fluency is rapidly becoming a necessary skill to compete in the national and global job market, providing these classes has become a vital part of increasing gender, ethnic, and general social equality within disadvantaged regions of Vietnam.
Thanks to the dedicated support of volunteers just like you, who continue to give services in order to support women and children in Vietnam! Let's be a catalyst for change today!
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
You will work max 20hrs/ week in exchange for free accommodation and meals, with 2 days off, with a minimum commitment of 8 weeks to get to know the students deeply and create a long-lasting impact. Your role would be to be in charge of the class, prepare lesson plans and teach English at our partner centers. Since we are a social enterprise, not an NGO, we do not receive outside funding. We make all of the money for our social support programs through the Teach For Change program. The money that is created from the Teach for Change program is used to fund The Empowerment Plan projects, which include Her Craft and Her Academy, where we provide FREE mental health services, parenting classes, English classes, access to social workers, job placement support, business education, and tourism education. Because of the services from our Teach for Change English teaching volunteers, we are able to provide The Empowerment Plan services for FREE to our women beneficiaries!
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
You be given 2 meals/ day and stay either with a family host, private room or a shared volunteer room with 1 or 2 other volunteers. Depends on the location, sometimes you will be given allowance for meals and transport from your teaching location to your accommodation.
