Help out and share cultures at our English School in Thủ Đức district, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietna

Hello,
We are a small English center for kids in the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh city. The children here do not have chances to practice their English with people from other countries, so they find no reasons and no motivation to learn the language, that makes our teaching become much more difficult and less effective. That's why we need your help with the kids' language practice, to encourage them, to talk to them, to bring them confidence and widen their world.

Help
Work with kids aged from 5 to 10 and teenagers. There are two tasks that we need you to help in each class you visit.

The first one is to talk to the children in English, encourage them to answer your questions or ask you questions and keep the conversation going, instruct them to use body language or facial expression to communicate

The second task is to host activities to practice the language, gradually build their confidence, help the kids believe in themselves. You are a lively evidence to prove that the children can communication with people from other countries using their skills and what they have learn at the school. Most of them are too shy.

We are willing to cooperate with you to host any extra classes that are useful for the kids such as simple science experiments, art classes, dance classes, typing knots or any other activities you are interested in and excited to share.

There will be from 5 to 15 students per class. A teacher assistant will be with you all the time in class. The teachers will be happy to help if you don't have much experience in class.

Snacks are at 4 p.m. Classes start at 4:30 and usually finish at 8 p.m. Volunteers without experience in language instruction are required to come earlier for training for first days and might have to stay after class to discuss the new activities for the next day if any.

Accommodation
Free quiet motel rooms with a fan and an AC are some hundred meters from the school. Wifi is available. You can find the room photos in my photo gallery. If you don't prefer to walk a kilometer to the school, there is a bicycle available at the motel that you can use. The motel can be reached by bus easily from the city center.

An electric bike is available for rent with the price of $1 per day to assist you with your commute through city streets and alleys.
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Bus tickets are offered to help you fully discover the city with the help of a list of must try destinations suggested by our teachers. Classes start at 4:30 p.m, so you will have a lot of time during the day. Bus stations are some hundred meters from the motel.

Every 3 days of working will be followed by a day off, which is to give you more time to explore places that needs a whole day and to get recovered for another 3 next days.

It's our pleasure to show you around the city or accompany you in your journey to discover the area in your days off.

Snacks at 4 p.m with us and some pocket money every week.

A trip to experience the Mekong Delta will be provided for volunteers who can stay with us for 2 weeks, and bus ticket to your next destination province if you can stay for another week.
