Dogs mountain Animal Sanctuary

Location: La Union, Philippines

Dogs mountain Animal Sanctuary was established in 2006. A privately funded and run venture founded by john hughes, an Artist from Brighton uk. The Sanctuary was set up to rescue dogs from cruelty, neglect and abandonment, and is set in a beautiful location lying at the foot of it's own mountain land full of undisturbed wildlife. This is home to 200+ dogs, 12 cats and 8 live in Filipino carers who look after their daily needs.

International travellers - visitors and volunteers are welcome to come and experience this unique animal welfare project and stay in modern comfortable accomodation for as many days as they wish . Dogs Mountain have recently started offering ' pay to stay ' places meaning your stay with us automaticaly will be helping secure the future of this not for profit animal sanctuary venture.
From Feb 2014 there will be Camping spaces near the Mango ' I LOVE YOU TREE ' a short distance from the main house.
Those travellers with tent or hammocks are welcomed as the site evolves throught this summer. help is welcomed to work on a yoga Pergoda, dip pool and native huts .
price per person is 250 peso per day - camp fires encouraged - meals by camp fire or join the table for fabulous Veggi / Vegan meals at the main house.
After the Rice Terraces in ' Banawe ' and the mountain city of Baguio, we are en route down to the South China Sea coast to the surfing beach at ' San Juan '. ' get off the bus in ' Naguilian ' ( 50 min down the mountain from Baguio ) then we are only 10 mins tricycle ride from bus stop and less than an hour from San Juan. ' ask tricycle for the 'Dog Sanctuary ' at ' Lioac Sur ' , Naguilian - our driveway is over 1km long . turn right at the '' Gussing Sur " 'archway' over the Bagolin road

If you wish to help and work with the dogs during your stay, Sanctuary work includes: walking ~ feeding ~ cleaning washing and playing with the dogs, going to the market and various repair jobs garden work around the center. Skills which may be of special help to this project - such as animal care - veterinary - construction - electrics - plumbing etc, are always welcomed so please let us know as a reduced or even free stay may be possible in return for your help.

Daily full board rate single, double or tripple share room, is 600 peso per person - ( 950 peso for a couple ) this is about half the price of similar rooms down on the coast 8 kms away, main difference being all meals included and payment benifits the sanctuary's work.
The meals include fantastic Vegetarian and Vegan options are always available - unlimited wi fi + sat tv. The comfortable accomodation is in a large modern house with views over the sanctuary, rice fields and mountain to the rear. Laundry facilities and en suite washroom included.

International travellers from many countries have already visited Dogs mountain. We provide a home from home base during travels through SE asia. Open all year, there's no limit to your length of stay subject to space availability.

We want you to enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere of this working Sanctuary. Our dogs are friendly - all fully vacinated and the place is clean and fresh and sits comfortably in this lovely natural 'green mountain ' environment . Our 'Filipino' carers, are friendly and enjoy meeting visitors .
