Location: kyushu, japan

Built before electricity, the house is traditional and very original. Despite its condition, it is a pleasure to stay there ( non-flush toilet excluded). Cleaning around the house and garden is the main need. Light renovation (interior walls, fireplace, flooring), that will not require specialised knowledge/experience or muscle power, should eventually begin.

This is a chance to help with the reconditioning of a traditional building- quite a large one- that was once home to a wealthy family. Interest and respect from prospective volunteers is the most vital thing, i feel. Specifically, an interest in architecture and perhaps history . Knowledge or pursuit of Buddhism would be an advantage. Environment is rural and property is surrounded by orchards (persimmon). Soil and straw allergies aside, helpers should have a smooth time. People who can't support the presence of cats will have difficulty, though.
