We are a non-profit working ranch and animal sanctuary, located in a scenic forest of Doug Fir Trees on uneven terrain. We run a summer day camp and after school program, teaching life skills and animal husbandry to youth ages 6-18. We are a short 15 minute drive to the city of Santa Rosa, and occasional use of a ranch vehicle is available, if you pay for gas and have a current driver's license/clean driving record. Accommodations may be our guest cottage, RV with separate bedroom, older trailer, or a bedroom with attached bath in the main farm house. We have a laundry room with washer and dryer, large entertainment room with 52â? TV (no cable, but a very large selection of movies) and pool table, and all kitchen privileges. Activities are swimming pool, pond, hiking, horseback riding and/or lessons, archery, art (during the summer), BBQing.. Our animal sanctuary is home to horses, cats, dogs, goats, chickens and ducks. Limited phone and computer access for email. Only 1 ½ hrs from San Francisco, 45 minutes to the beautiful coast of California. In the midst of the wine country and Napa Valley Wine Train tour. The work is very diverse, including animal care, carpentry, cooking, maintenance, gardening, cleaning and much more. Most are able to find something they enjoy. Work is 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, on time and efficient with chores and responsibilities; plus 1 hr of cleaning common areas during your off time. Your attitude needs to be positive and cooperative, and be willing to work well with others as well as alone. Some work may be physically demanding (bucking 100 lb bales of hay or stack 50 lb bags of feed when delivered) and/or messy. No drugs, alcohol or weapons allowed. Because we often have youth present on the ranch, we run a background check for all resident volunteers. We prefer a longer time commitment, but no less than one week. We greatly appreciate all our resident volunteers who come and share our passion for serving children and animals, and we are so grateful for the positive and lasting impact they continue to bring to our organization.
