Hostel in San Luis Obispo CA USA

We are a small friendly hostel halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We provide lodging for 26 guests in four private rooms and four dormitories. We have four staff people who share the duties of running the hostel, and we are often looking for temporary volunteers to help out with special projects or when we are short-staffed. The hostel has several garden plots where we grow organic vegetables and ornamentals. The work consists of housecleaning, guest relations, and occasionally special projects. Workers staying longer than one month would have the option of being trained to work at the front desk as well. We require 18-20 hours of work each week in exchange for a bed in a dormitory. Because our facility is small, we cannot host children or pets. Length of stay is negotiable, from one to three months. The hostel is in a quiet residential neighborhood just a short walk to downtown. San Luis Obispo has abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. Hiking trails and cycling trails are nearby, and the ocean is 12 miles away. Transportation to San Luis Obispo is via Amtrak or our small San Luis Obispo Airport. All corners of San Luis Obispo are accessible on local buses.
