We are looking for helpers for projects at our Rural Ecological Business Park in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Denver, CO. Our campus is in the Colorado Rocky Mountain foothills where we run a commercial alpaca ranch, a free-range chicken operation and use the facilities for research and development of aquaponic systems, hydroponic systems, and livestock feed systems. We strive to improve upon previous methods of intensive yet regenerative and sustainable agricultural systems. aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics.
Many of our previous guests have told us that we are one of the most beautiful places they have ever stayed. Summers are wonderfully mild and dry while winters are cool and pleasant. We do have snow, but daytime hours are almost always above freezing. We have more days of sunshine (>310) than Phoenix, AZ!
We have a quarry, small-scale aquaculture, aquaponics, hydroponic systems, dry-land gardens, free range egg production, and an alpaca herd all on site. We are only a short one-hour drive from Denver but are in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the shadow of Rocky Mountain National Park. We have rock climbing, hiking, biking, sailing, boating, fishing, dog training, pasture golf and other recreational opportunities on-site or adjacent to our site. We have landline phone availability and limited internet. We can arrange for transportation for you while you are staying with us, in many cases.
Guests stay in either one of two nice RV’s that have gas and water hookups. or some other more rustic accommodations. They have a fully stocked private kitchen and bathroom.
They will work as sustainability ranch hands helping with alpaca care, chicken care (including a lot of cleaning and maintenance) or field work around the farm, weeding etc.
We ask for 20 hrs a week, generally five 4 hour days. Generally, we train a Helper for one key role and have that be their main focus area rather than have people switching from alpaca to farm to chickens, this ensures things are done properly.
However, you are always welcome to join in on other ranch activities after your daily shift is done and occasionally we have big projects like running fences or shearing that require extra hands and attention.
We provide some food produced at the ranch. For three meals a day, we will provide all the food and you will cook for yourself due to our busy schedule. We do have group meals on a regular basis, but not always daily.
We feel that both parties benefit the most when our volunteers have longer stays; therefore, we require a stay of at least 4- 6 weeks.
We are a unique regenerative/sustainable farming and ranching community. We strongly believe in the Access and Collaborative Economy (ACE) and we do a lot of collaborative projects. Contact us; we would love to hear from you. At this time, we are only accepting people that can understand at least conversational English. Unfortunately, we cannot accept pets. When we have availability couples are welcome.
We would like to have a call with you to see if we all are compatible. Check us out at:
