Green Uprising at Blackberry Bend, Willits CA

We're a 5-acre family farm located about 130 miles north of San Francisco, near the town of Willits. This will be our third year working to resuscitate an old abandoned farm. We are 6 adults and 6 children/teenagers (ages 1-17) committed to shrinking our ecological
footprint, healing the land, and improving it's productivity. We are growing fruit and vegetables using traditional organic methods for farmers markets, our roadside stand, and
some retail stores. We had a small CSA in 2009 and may continue with that. We also have a dairy share program with our small goat herd. We do cheese, kefir and yogurt-making. We raise winter vegetables in a large production high tunnel and under row cover (it's cold in the morning on East Hill Road, come November/December). We have three orchards with apples, pears, plums, and walnut trees, a couple of small vineyards, and lots of wild blackberries. We gather local herbs and grow a few exotics for herbal lotions and medicines, and we're trying to incorporate permaculture thinking into our farm development. We are looking for interns interested in all aspects of farm work; milking, cheese-making, compost-tending, preparing beds, planting, harvesting, building, canning
and preserving, whatever. We have a small one-room cabin available and will provide abundant good, healthy food and board in exchange for 20-60 hours of work weekly. Must love kids, plants, and animals. Preferable stay is 4-8 weeks. We speak English and
