Frosty Morning Farm in Truxton NY
Report
Location: Truxton, NY, United States
Frosty Morning Farm is a small, 2 acre, certified organic farm run by Alison and Karl Frost. It's located within Common Place Land Co-op, Inc, a 432 acre intentional community of 18 adults, 4 young adults, and 6 children, situated on a south facing slope in Central NY?s Cortland County hills. Our farm has a vegetable, herb, fruit and potted perennial operation, selling to a CSA, farmers market and food co-op. We make herbal tinctures, salves and soap. We also raise organic poultry and dairy goats and use draft ponies for doing farm work. The type of work could include planting, weeding, and harvesting produce, greenhouse work, cooking, care of potted plants, animal care, and help with the CSA and farmers market. We would like to trade a reasonable amount of labor for food and a tent platform and tent. We could put up 1-2- people (that could share the tent). The length of stay is flexible, but the preferred length of stay is 2-3 weeks. We need help for most of the growing season. Although we need help throughout the season we especially appreciate help in early June to get the season started. Transportation and car-pooling are available. Common Place has two meetings per month using concensus, and hosts two gatherings every summer. Children and pets are only hosted on a case by case basis. Karl and I only speak English fluently. We eat a mixed diet including vegetables, dairy and meat from the farm. Vegetarians and vegans are also welcome. We look forward to sharing experience, knowledge, and companionship and creating a mutually beneficial experience.
