HELLO, Welcome to our busy biodynamic / organic farming project! With over 160 acres of orchards, pastures, a massive garden and 700 animals there's plenty happening here year round. See more photos on your facebook page, see link above.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a very active and dynamic farm. You will be sore and fatigued for the first 3 weeks. Once you get acclimated, you’ll be more physically fit than you could ever imagine. And the path to get there will have been a meaningful one. Only the passionate need apply. This is an intense 3 month, 6 day per week visitor experience.
OPENINGS:
As of now, we need confident, passionate, peppy, optimistic people (3 months requirement however we will consider shorter stays for those out of country).

Apricot Lane Farms is located 40 minutes north of Los Angeles and 30 minutes west of Ventura Beach in Moorpark CA. Our team has been charged with the mission of creating a well balanced ecosystem and rich soils that produce nutrient-dense foods. Our hope is that we can grow great tasting food while treating the environment and the animals with respect. Formally the home to the late California Senator Thomas R. Bard, this enchanting property will dazzle your mind and warm your heart. We're looking for those who want to experience what real farm work is like on a 130 acres of lush farmland.
We have over 382 animals... goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, guinea hens, highland cattle. We also care for vegetable gardens and 80 acres of orchard with avocado and lemons. Plus we just planted 22 acres that includes 72 varieties of fruit to care for (YIKES!). We ask for a 2 -3 month commitment with longer stays optional if it's a fit. The work could include fence repair, garden work, running errands, organic grounds keeping, large scale compost and vermiculture management, canning, livestock handling and more. Just tell us what you're good at doing! We have a full time traditional foods gourmet chef that will take care of you during most work days. Boarding options are extremely nice and clean. You will be bunking with 1 other in each room. We can not accept children or pets. Town is NOT walking distance but we can provide occasional rides into downtown Moorpark. We have wireless internet service for your computer.
If you interested in how to run a large scale eco system based farming operation. Or if learning how animals and agriculture benefit one another. Then this might be a good fit. We're one of, if not the largest organic / biodynamic farming operation in both Ventura and Los Angeles county.
