We have just purchased a beautiful 11 acre farm just outside of Barbosa, Antioquia. We are an organic bean to bar chocolate factory, and will turn this farm into a hotel and retreat center. I also work with the Sacred Medicines of Colombia.
This land has been taken care of with love by the same family for 40 years. Its is full of exotic plants, butterflies, birds and iguanas. There are 11 acres to wander, a river to swim in, a bamboo forest, plant nursery and many fruit trees. There are mandarinas, bananas, guanabanas, limons, naranjas.
We have a pair of rare geese, some indian runner ducks we keep for eggs, a couple dogs, some very furry pet chickens, and a few cats.
The chocolate factory produces chocolate, cacao products and beauty products from organic ingredients. We are bean to bar, we process the beans that we get direct from farmers throughout colombia in our small factory. We offer weekly tours to learn about chocolate and also experience the beauty of land.
This is a place for writers, meditators, yoga people and folks looking to enjoy the land. This is not a party place, and heavy drinkers are not allowed. We prefer non-smokers, but if you are a smoker, you must do so away from the house and public areas.
We will not need helpers until early September.
We need helpers on an ongoing basis. We expect 2
hours of work a week.
I need two helpers to help in Chocolate. This position is to learn all the aspects of chocolate making. I expect these helpers to stay at least a month, as there is a lot to learn. We also hold weekly tours, and these are held in English. The interns are taught to make chocolate in English.
We also need ongoing help building right now. We are converting the old pig house, which is being used as a plant nursery into a house. We are also converting the old stables to be the chocolate factory. Bill is a retired American contractor and electrician and he needs help. These helpers must speak english. He is willing to train those that want to learn, but great if you have some skills already. In the future, we want to build a Maloka for shamanic ceremonies, yoga and meditation classes, that will have composting toilets nearby. And as we can find the lumber we will be building eco-cabins throughout the farm.
We need help with the gardens, I will be planting a vegetable garden, and someone with experience in this would be great. We will also be planing more fruit trees, cacao trees, and a medicinal plant garden with my Shaman.
There may be additional tasks that need to be done, like caring for the animals, collecting eggs, taking care of the pool, and cleaning house (we normally have a maid, but do not at this time).
NO MEALS are provided for you.
There is a small house for workers with 2 bedrooms and a lounge and small kitchen, and patio. If you are friends or a couple you can share a room.
There is a swimming hole at the river and a great rock for sunning.
There is a swimming pool, but we need to be respectful of guests that are paying to stay here. This applies to all the public areas.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about chocolate if you are interested, or building and construction skills permaculture. This is not the place to go to if you are only looking to save money on accommodations for a week. We are looking for people that are serious about helping to build things, people that are looking for a chance to see the beauty of Colombia.
