Volunteers needed in Uganda to work with local Ngo

Location: Kampala, Uganda

I'm 31 years old, Ugandan, half orphan - my dad died in 2001 from HIV/AIDS.
I lived on streets from 2001-2005. I worked with church teaching Sunday school and realizing my calling. In late 2006, I started doing outreaches to the streets where I used to stay.

From then, I started working with street kids, orphans and vulnerable young people. I am married with 4 children. I am from a family 24 children and 8 step mothers. My Mum still alive but on medicine.

My organization is a fully registered NGO, we are also a member of the Uganda National NGO Forum and a member of the NGO Network in Wakiso District. We have grown slowly but surely and our core values are :- Transparency,Team work,Accountability and Care. We specifically work with street children, orphans, youths and sensitizing the community about HIV/AIDS awareness.
We have 5 staff members and all are volunteers - no one gets salary.

Activities are:
Arranging lessons and Teaching in our partner nursery and primary school half way between Entebbe and Kampala. It is a quiet town, with beautiful views.
Playing with the children - they LOVE it.

currently we are constructing a toilet, children's shelter and fence

Making handcrafts at the centre e.g beads, bags for sale

Street outreaches (Giving First aid treatment),
Counseling and guidance to street children as well as school children

Engaging in our Sports Academy - helping the coaches

Developing fundraising and income generating projects

Volunteers with any medical experience will be invaluable for our first aid outreach. Volunteers with a passion for football will be able to contribute meaningfully to the sports academy.
Business students/graduates may wish to help with fundraising ideas.

This is the nature of the volunteer roles we have on offer. You do not have to do all of it!!! Basically, once you arrive and get acquainted with our work, you will be able to choose what activities best suit your motivations and skills.

If you are doing this for an academic programme, we can work with you to design a bespoke internship so that you meet all your work experience requirements.
