VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

Operating since 2007.Situated in Arusha's Maasai land on some 19 acres some 23 Kilometers (13 miles) from Arusha town center.
Four classrooms, two dormitories, a kitchen, dining hall, a cow shed, chicken coup and lots of rabbits as well as a large garden for green groceries.
A lot of under privileged children are in need of a formal education which they do not get due to poverty in the families and require sponsorship to assist in their tuition fees. Some can hardly afford to buy the minimum uniform requirement of two pairs let alone school shoes.
It is through your kind hearts and donations/sponsorship that these children shall have a future worth living for. Your help in finding sponsors for some of these children will go a long way.
Since the children are between the ages of 14 & 19, helpers that are English teachers, motivational speakers, or councilors are welcome to speak to the children as well. Helpers will be required to put in a maximum of 4 hour hours per day between 8am and 12pm from Monday to Friday. Week day afternoons and weekends can be spent browsing the local area and meeting the locals where you will be able to learn both Swahili and Maasai. There is a local market day every Wednesday where you will be able to blend with a lot of the Maasai people and sample some roasted goat meat (a local favorite).
The school is still an on going project in that not all building structures are in place and so some financial assistance through donors to erect a library and science laboratory as well as putting in windows, doors and tables to the dining hall shall go a long way in providing quality education to these young children.
Our make shift library, has very few books and we could use some assistance in purchasing more current books.
Those interested in architecture, building, animal farming, teachers are also welcome to add some culture and expertise to our school community. A web designer can assist in putting up a website for the school too.
Accommodations are provided for with one facility on campus and the other two half an hour away by car. During your stay you can expect three local cuisines per day, hot bathing water, a large bed, an indoor toilet and bathroom. The duration per volunteer can be from one week to ten weeks.
During your stay in Arusha you can visit numerous game parks situated locally such as the Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Duluti, our local museum,Mount Meru Game Reserve, just to name a few.
Outside Arusha, one can visit Selous National Park, Serengeti National Park, Climb Mt Kilimanjaro and so on. charter flights are available via small planes at Kisongo's Arusha Airport.
