Promote culture exchange and learning opportunities through our projects in Malawi

Location: Chikwawa, Malawi
We are small local organization based in Chikwawa, Malawi involved in a youth empowerment, farming, education, women empowerment that aims at reducing the HIV prevalence among young people through access to information and capacity building in life skills, sexual reproductive health, Leadership skills, Positive living and recreational activities. The program is targeting in and out of school young people both girls and boys in Chikwawa semi-urban and rural areas.
The main object for which the organization is established is to aspire to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized by adopting strategies through community initiative, socio-economic empowerment and promotes dialogue and debate within the beneficiary communities. Also to challenge the socio economic inequalities and enable the vulnerable sections of society towards the goal of self reliance.
We ask the volunteer to teach English, Mathematics, play games and bring a bit of light and love in this area with your personality and skills to the children and community in large. Once you visit us, you will be teaching at school from Monday-Friday and we encourage you to help the staffs and planning additional activities in the afternoon. You will also provide various activities to the children in the area, such as: art drawing, recreation activities (sports) and music.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
The volunteer/s will exchange culture with local people in Chikwawa and learn more Malawian life and share knowledge and get to know real life in locals.
As small local organization in Chikwawa we need an extra pair of hands to support the staff at the office. These include not limited to;
- Teaching in Class.
- Conduct practical lessons
- Proposal development
- Fundraising through social media marketing (SMM)
- Working with youth clubs and other that is related to young people in schools.
The volunteers should be able to adapt to environments in a rural set-up; good communication skills using English language and must be able to respect the culture of the target communities.
We believe that volunteers invest a short amount of time and get a real experience of a life- time for ever.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
. Community Forum has three types of accommodation for volunteers.
i. Lodging; the volunteers are allowed to be lodging at the lodge, hotel or motel which will be asked to pay every day
at the average of $9.72 - $70 per individual without food.
ii. Home-stay; the volunteers’ stays with the host family/ies where the volunteers are asking to pay $7 for food,
electricity and water per day, which enable the host family to prepare three meals per day.
iii. Hostel; the volunteers are allowed to have their own house where they are asked to the house per month at
reasonable price at the range of $70.44- $208.33 according to facility of the house.
