The Community Garden project aims to create a sustainable and productive garden that serves the local community in Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative will not only provide fresh produce but also foster community spirit, promote environmental awareness, and enhance food security. Volunteers will engage in various activities such as planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting crops. Additionally, educational workshops on sustainable gardening practices, nutrition, and cooking will be organized to empower community members with knowledge and skills.
The project will focus on native plants and crops that are well-suited to the local climate and soil conditions. By involving local residents in the planning and execution of the garden, we aim to ensure that it meets their needs and preferences while promoting biodiversity.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
Volunteers are expected to work approximately 4-6 hours per day, five days a week. Tasks may include:
Preparing the soil for planting
Planting seeds or seedlings
Maintaining the garden (weeding, watering)
Assisting in educational workshops
Harvesting produce
The preferable length of stay for volunteers is between 2 weeks to 3 months, allowing enough time for them to contribute meaningfully while experiencing the local culture.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
Accommodation will be provided in shared housing close to the garden site. Volunteers can expect basic amenities including running water and electricity. Meals will be provided daily, featuring local cuisine made from ingredients sourced from the garden whenever possible. This arrangement not only supports volunteers but also promotes a sense of community among participants.
