1. To share strategies and experiences of how to prevent the consumption of drugs by children. Children have been in direct effect by using drugs. Therefore be motivated by the need to learn prevention strategies for families, children on street.
2. Protection of rights of children from the illicit use of drugs. According to the UN convention, Children should be protected from using drugs. Therefore, we would like you to share & learn from other members, how should children who are not in their families get protected especially children on the streets because they are in the open space.
3. To share with other members how KYDA organization used family therapy sessions to help some families with in Kawempe slum community reduce and avoid the use of drugs especially by parents because in one way or the other children get affected. Some few families that have positively reacted to the therapy and have started avoiding drugs and alcohol. Some even changed their businesses from selling alcohol to selling food staffs.
4. As an organization we are using children in school as a mouth piece against alcohol and drugs. SMART clubs as a way of preventing children from starting to use alcohol and for those using to stop using alcohol and avoid effects. Together with the children and parents SMART clubs help to keep them to stick to the promise of avoiding alcohol and drugs. Here we use the SMART Contract concept.
5. Some street children are HIV positive , others orphaned by HIV at early stage. These need a lot of pscho social support, guidance, Care and support
VOLUNTEER DUTIES
• Give support to the teacher in the counseling class and in the planning of the morning lessons.
• Participate in organizing recreational activities, retreats for children, counseling and behavioral change sessions. Support the trainer in running the extra-scholastic activities
• Move within the slum communities of Kawempe division and the rural areas of Wakiso, to visit care givers of vulnerable children and to conduct homevisit to the KCCP children families.
• Participate in making follow-ups and booster follow ups on street children to ensure their resettlement and reuniting children with their families.
• Be involved within the studios, i.e. participating in health talk, talk shows, dialogues, schools where our street children and orphans receive education from and offices of the agencies which support the work of the Project.
• Office work related to organisation, development, programming elaboration of document and report.
The volunteer should join the KCCP every day . Every change shall be discussed with KCCP staff as well as for any case of absence. In case of emergency or impossibility not to be at KYDA the volunteer must inform the staff.
The volunteer will be provided with lunch.
The volunteer will be not refunded of any transport cost, even if the transfer is for KCCP activities except workaway volunte.

The volunteer will offer his/her service at KYDA’s premises, in Kawempe Jinja Kalori zone A.
It could be required to the volunteer to move for attend to event, training, meeting.

The volunteer should have:-
• Professional knowledge and methodologies in the project management for the development
• Management of projects and activities for vulnerable children
• Work methodologies in the social work and education area
• Idea about budgets for projects and activities
• Team work for the achievement of common goals
• Use of professional English to write formal document
• Deal with emergencies situation

As Suggested from above However The volunteer preferably has to own some specific skills:
Knowledge of English language

WORKING HOURS FROM 9A.M TO 4:00PM Daily from Monday to Friday. Our preferable Length of stay is minimum three (3) months
