WHO WE ARE:
We are a community based organization operating alongside the communities and initiating and/or improving development projects to eradicate poverty and care for less fortunate children, widows, widowers, the aged, households and families, we are based in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Our organization takes a multidisciplinary, grassroots approach to supporting the community in and around Sokode through education, health-care, youth and women empowerment, environmental protection, Sports, Music, and economic growth through organic farming.
Our organization is driven by the community, for the community, in the community. Our initiatives extend beyond SOKODE with a focus on caring for less fortunate families living in the outskirts of Volta Region.
SCHOOL AND LEARNING:
A lot of people here are living beyond poverty line and this has affected and propelled a lot of drop outs, illiterates. Many cannot afford the school fees, uniforms, books, etc… We provide school fees, transportations, uniforms, shoes, computer and relevant gadgets, building/constructions and other necessities. We also help to get more hands on like deploying volunteer teachers/educators to help in the case where there is need for more teachers.
SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAM:
The school feeding program we are developing is to education more accessible to low-income families. Many students also hold critical responsibilities like managing crops, caring for livestock, cleaning the home, and caring for other siblings, an additional barrier for students from some families. The day-to-day realities of poverty sometimes make impossible investment in the long-term benefits of education. To lower these barriers, we plan to introduce a program providing staple foods (such as rice, Beans and cooking oil) to families of vulnerable children each month their child attends school regularly and performs to their best ability.
LANGUAGE CLASSES AND READING CLUB:
We teach local languages such as TWI, EWE, HAUSA, ENGLISH, ETC.
We also have days when the kids/youth meets for improving their reading skills by engaging them in our amazing story telling and reading sessions. It enables us promote the love of literature in a positive and nurturing environment. It brings the community together to learn about and discuss relevant matters.
ORGANIC - REGENERATIVE FARMING:
With the use of the regenerative farming methods we have been able to provide solutions to problems/challenges faced by the people here most especially the farmers e.g ecosystem breakdown, alarming poverty, starvation, lack of access and tools and alternative or indigenous knowledge, use of pesticides, etc. We also do our very best to teach, provide and support the people. Sharing our knowledge with them is very vital, sharing the surplus, fair trade and donations of tools/equipments.
HEALTH CARE:
Health care in most cases is inaccessible to the people - less privileged - the poor which is not suppose to be. We have deemed it fit to embark on this project to save lives by providing accessible and affordable mobile health care and home visit, providing necessary funding and support, deploying more volunteer medical staffs, providing health care infrastructures/facilities to enable good and quality practice both for the local and international volunteers and medical practitioner not engaged in a job.
WATER PROJECT:
We educate, support and provide clean and quality water and catchment systems for the people to enable them stay off lack and disease.
SPORT - SOCCER PROJECT:
We have been able to safe and transform lives through this golden approach. Our youth soccer team helps to bring the kids/youth together to further promote GO Green, discipline, peace and culture. And as matter of fact, we award sponsorships and scholarships through natural teachings mixed with play.
MUSIC PROJECT:
We do different music projects such as teaching, composing, singing, drumming, playing instruments and dancing.
WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT - ECOPRENEURSHIP CIRCLE:
We host seminars, workshops, etc. for capacity building, learning other life skills. We also provide tools/equipments/materials and fundings to help our women and youth create businesses/ or go into a vocation that solves environmental problems and on that operates sustainably.
