Help 1000's of Animals with us in South Africa!Furkidz is a registered non-profit organisation with the mission to help South Africa's thousands of shelter animals. We are looking for animal loving volunteers to join us!
Our website www.Furkidz.co.za provides an easily searchable, comprehensive database of rescue pets available for adoption.
We have chosen the medium of the internet in order to reach thousands of South African pet lovers instantly, and have created a cyber shelter visiting experience that is so fun and compelling that visitors fanatically search until their new pet has been found.
About 5000 animals from almost 60 shelters are featured on our website and we update the website every day. We write articles, post interesting news and physically visit the shelters, take pictures of their cats and dogs, edit the pictures, upload them to the FurKidz website and monitor their adoption progress.
Regular newsletters are sent out and FurKidz hosts and supports fundraising events and adoption days.
FurKidz is looking for volunteers/ interns to assist with the following task:
- Visiting our shelter partners
- Lots of hands-on contact with shelter dogs and cats
- Taking pictures/ filming of video clips
- Picture and Video Editing
- Website administration
- Writing of articles for website, newsletter & social media
- Preparation and posting of daily news and events
- Uploading of information / posting of ads
- Receiving and handling of enquiries
- Finding, collating, writing of newsletter content
- Administering Lost & Found & Happy Tails sections
- Designing of marketing materials
- Organizing Fundraising and other Events
Our main FurKidz branch is located in Cape Town where our volunteers live in our beach house, 100m away from the ocean and within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and bars.
Our area is very safe and transport easy to reach (we have a MyCiti bus stop around the corner).
Hout Bay to us is the most beautiful place in the whole of Cape Town, most entertainment and tourist attractions are within walking distance, the ocean is right in front of us and you can often smell the sea breeze in your room, plus we are surrounded by mountains and dunes, fynbos and forest. It is absolutely beautiful here!
Duration: minimum 1 month / maximum 6 months
Start: throughout the year
Audience: All animal loving people may apply, most of our volunteers are students between the age of 18 and 25 years.
